For this piece I envisioned the experience of being an artist and a human being in which somehow the word bittersweet comes to mind. Not in a way that intends to judge or allude to something negative but to visualize with clarity and respect for what the human experience is and to admire the beauty that lies in ambivalence. I got started with my concept in the center, with a drawing that I made of a moon and a sun sleeping as it represents to me peace between two opposites. As I worked on my piece, I imagined ways in which ambivalence could be portrayed and I began to picture facial expressions and different body positions arranged in opposite places according to the emotions they convey. I included vivid, dark, warm and neutral values that sort of make this flowing movement that eventually guides the eye back to the center creating unity through the textures.
